A month ago, Instagram introduced shopping bag stickers to its Stories for select advertisers, giving them a new opportunity to drive sales on the platform. The social media network is currently planning to roll this option out to all brands that have enabled shopping on the platform.
Businesses that are interested in this option need to get approval for the feature first by fulfilling the following list of requirements:
- The business must sell physical goods that comply with Instagram’s merchant agreement and commerce policies
- The Instagram account must be converted into a business profile
- The business profile must be connected to a Facebook catalog. This can be created and managed on Business Manager, through Shopify or BigCommerce platforms or directly on the business’ Page on Facebook.
Moreover, Instagram is expanding its Collection ad to cover all advertisers. This ad’s format blends video and product catalogs, as well as in-stream purchases within the app.
