Facebook is adding two new options for businesses to buy and deliver video ads on the platform, namely: In-Stream Reserve and ThruPlay.
The In-Stream Reverse option will allow advertisers to reach users who watch videos from a selection of the highest quality and most engaging publishers and creators. This, in principle, is quite similar to the traditional TV ad buying process.
ThruPlay, on the other hand, will help advertisers optimize and pay only for ads that are watched to completion, or for at least 15 seconds. As a result, advertisers will have more flexibility in terms of controlling how their content is monetized, and focusing more on higher quality ad content.
ThruPlay will be available in Ads Manager for Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network, while In-Stream Reserve is currently available for selected advertisers targeting US audiences only.
