The future is here!
Snapchat has recently announced a cool new feature, named ‘Snapchat Scan’.
It is a new type of ads that is triggered based on image recognition capabilities; where users will be able to unlock unique AR experience by simply scanning a brand’s logo.
The unique AR experience comes with a wide range of possibilities. Here are more details from Snapchat about the same:
“For example, a photograph including an object recognized as a restaurant may result in the user being presented with photo filters that overlay a menu of the restaurant on the photograph. Or a photograph including an object recognized as a food type may result in the user being presented with photo filters that let the user view information e.g., calories, fat content, cost or other information associated with the food type.”
The option is currently being tested with McDonald’s and Coca-Cola, with no further details about a wider roll-out.
