TikTok is having its big break.
According to reports from social media experts, the platform is testing an expansion of the maximum video length on the platform to 3 minutes. Currently, the limit for all videos is 1 minute, and it doesn’t seem like anyone’s complaining.
So why the dramatic expansion? Clearly TikTok has learned from the shortcomings of others by beefing up the platform relatively early in the product development timeline. As many outlets have highlighted, this expansion is on par with Twitter’s change from 160 to 280 character limit, a move that took around 10 years into the platform’s history and only saw a twofold extension.
