Capitalizing on the success of its map feature, Snapchat is doubling down on its unexpected geographical capabilities and influence. Last week, the platform introduced ‘My Places’, a very interesting feature that will use the Snap Map to showcase businesses that are popular with your friends and other users.
According to the platform:
With My Places, Snapchatters can discover more than 30 million businesses, log their favourite local spots, and even find personalised recommendations informed by their friends and the global Snapchat community.
More importantly, though, businesses can now make use of the new elements to advertise on the Snap Map with the ‘Promote Local Place’ ad option.
